Mumbai's Taj Hotels Get Threat Calls, Security Stepped Up: Police Sources

Security has been heightened at the two Taj hotels, Mumbai Police sources said.

Mumbai:

Two Taj hotels in south Mumbai received threat calls last night, following which security has been heightened at the two hotels, Mumbai Police sources said today.

The Taj Mahal Palace in Colaba and the Taj Lands End in Bandra received calls on their landline phones last night, police sources said.

The caller threatened to carry out a terror attack similar to the 26/11 attacks, Mumbai Police sources said today.

The police said they are in the process of identifying the caller.

The iconic Taj Mahal Palace in Colaba was one of the places in Mumbai targeted during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Ten heavily-armed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists attacked Taj Mahal Palace hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station and Leopold Cafe, among other landmarks. The three-day siege left over 160 people were dead and hundreds injured.
